Scientist programmer position (expired)
The BIO3 (Biostatistics, Biomedicine, Bioinformatics) group at the GIGA-R Medical Genomics Unit of the University of Liège (Belgium) is offering a position for a scientist programmer within the WELBIO project “DESTinCT”. The latter aims to develop an analytic pipeline and software tools in the research area of large-scale omics integrated gene-gene interaction analyses.
We are looking for an exceptional team player who has a passion for software development with a strong interest in contributing to biomedical research. To be eligible, you minimally have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or a related field, but most importantly, have an excellent knowledge of C++. As a programmer in C++ within this project you are able to set up testing frameworks to detect bugs and remove errors. Experience in modern software development technologies, such as parallel computing or cloud computing, are an extra advantage. Good English communication skills, both oral and written, are necessary, as well as being able to meet deadlines.
Terms of employment
The position will be funded according to the regulations of the Fund for Strategic Fundamental Research (FRFS) and in particular FRFS-WELBIO. The successful candidate will be offered a contract till 31 March 2018 (extensions are negotiable) and can start immediately.
